The Pomares                    April  2014

Dear friends,
At the University in Puebla where we are principally working, BUAP, there is a group of student leaders who are winning (evangelizing), building (discipling) and sending (teaching others to do the same).  So far this year, 15 students have put their faith in Christ, 25 new students are involved in discipleship groups, and 10 students have been trained in how to share their faith with others.
We are so excited to see how God is using students to win students.  Their enthusiasm and passion for sharing the Gospel without fear on their campus encourages us.
Here is a picture of some students involved with CRU at BUAP with the director of the university that sometimes comes to greet them when he sees them having meetings.
In less than a week, from April 13th to 18th we are having the CRU Mexico National Student Conference, where students from several cities will come, such as Monterrey, Chihuahua, Guadalajara, Queretaro, Mexico DF, Puebla, Oaxaca, as well as people from other countries like Panama, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Dominican Republic. We are working very hard on the details so that the conference will be a success.
This year during the conference we will have an additional leadership training for the students leaders and the missionaries with CRU Mexico and some from Latin America and the Caribbean. This training will help us to accelerate seeing more movements lead by students on more universities in Mexico. We are praying that God would use this conference and training to empower the students to go to more universities with the Gospel.
On the family side this month we had the opportunity to dedicate our son, Ian to God in our local church called “El Faro” (Lighthouse). It was a special day for us to commit before God and our church to bring up our son according to what God teaches us in his word.
Thank you very much for your prayer and financial support, certainly God is doing wonderful things through our mutual contribution to reach college students in Mexico and around the world.  To God be the glory.
Prayer requests:

For students at BUAP to continue sharing the Gospel with passion on their campus.

For the details related to the National Conference and the training, that God uses this to inspire the students in their relationship with Him and for the mission that God has given us.

That God keeps our children healthy (Ian and Leah)

That God provides for the different activities that we have planned in the year.

The Pomares                    February  2014

Dear friends,
We starting the new year very excited about what God is going to do in our lives and in the lives of the students in Mexico.
On January 6th in Mexico we celebrated the 3 king´s holiday, this is when most of the children in Mexico receive their gifts. With this in mind Ricardo, a student involved in Cru, organized an event in his hometown about an hour and a half from Puebla.
Few months ago the students went to the local authorities to request permission for the event at the town square, where they planned several activities including: piñatas, games with the kids, and presentation of the Jesus film for kids.  The day of the event several students from Cru arrived to the town early to help set-up and right before the event we went door to door inviting the kids and their family to the event.
Thanks to God it was a success! Around 150 kids and 50 adults joined us for the event.  The kids enjoyed the piñatas, games, the toys that were given as gifts, and that several students dressed up as clowns..Most of the people stayed for the projection of the Jesus film for kids. After the movie we shared the gospel with the people and invited them to the local church where Ricardo and his family attend.
It was a great day, in particular I was very proud of the initiative that the students showed for sharing their faith with other people and how their are growing in their relationship with Christ. Fourteen students helped plan and participate to make the event possible.
Feburary 19 to the 24th (this week) I will be traveling to Panama City for a planning time concerning our conference for Latina America and the Caribbean that will be having in 2015. Along with other missionaries from our area of Latin America, we will be working in the design for the conference where we are praying for at least 3000 students to come in 2015 from around 42 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
On the home front Ian is already 7 months and praise God that his digestive system is finally working as it should.  Leah is a spirited little 2 years old, and loves her little brother.  We feel very blessed for having them in our lives. Thank you for praying for the health of our children.
Thank you so much for your prayer and financial support, we believe that together reaching colleges students today we are reaching the future generation of professionals, leaders and parents. Thank you for teaming with us to help fulfill the great commission in Mexico and the world.
Prayer request:

That God would continue to use the students in Puebla to reach their friends with the gospel.

For my trip to Panama City, that it would be a productive time for the organization of the conference for Latin America and the Caribbean, and also that God protects Liz, Leah and Ian while I am traveling.

That God would provide for the different events that we have this year.
