The Pomares                     Octuber  2015
Dear friends,
Thank you all so much for supporting us with your prayers and financial gifts, so that together we can continue bringing the message of the Gospel to the university students of Mexico.
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to train 9 students from Mexico City about how to be a Multiplication-Minded Disciple.  Some topics we covered were: how to follow up with someone, the meaning of spiritual multiplication, prayer, evangelism, and more.  We had a great time.  Here are some pictures of our time together at the training.
Last week I visited Fernando and Nancy, a husband-and-wife team of volunteers with the student movement in Xalapa, Veracruz.  I met Fernando 9 years ago at Veracruz State University, where he and I studied our undergraduate degrees.  When he got involved with the ministry, I had the opportunity to disciple him and some other students at the law school campus.
After participating for a few years, Fernando and his wife Nancy have become the principal leaders of the university movement in Xalapa.  They have a 3-year-old son together.  He works as a lawyer and she is a preschool teacher.  Every Wednesday they have their weekly meeting with the group of students at the Law School campus, and this week, I got to present about “The five stages of a relationship.”  The students definitely enjoyed our discussion and participated very enthusiastically.
Fernando and Nancy are in the process of becoming full-time staff members for Campus CRU, and although it is an enormous challenge for them to raise their support, they are trusting that God will provide everything that is needed.  You can see Fernando, Nancy, and their little son Fernandito.  The other picture shows the students meeting at the law school campus.
As far as our family goes, our children are doing very well.  Ian really likes motorcycles, and every time we go to the grocery store, he likes to sit for a little while on the motorcycles they have for sale there.  Leah loves school and she is thrilled to make new friends and play with them.

We also want to share with you that for the past few months, Liz has been battling some health problems, especially stomach issues.  We have visited the doctor several times and some tests have been done.  Right now we are working on figuring out exactly what is going wrong.  We think it might be Celiac-related (a disease resulting from intolerance to gluten), but sometime in the next few weeks the specialist will pinpoint for sure if that is what she has.  We ask you to be praying for Liz’s health, so that we know what steps to take depending on the diagnosis we get. Right now she is on a gluten-free diet.  We would also like to ask you to consider helping us with the extra expenses we’ve had because of the doctor visits, the tests, and future appointments.  Would you be able to give a special donation to help us continue to meet those expenses?  If you would like to know more about this situation, you can send us a message.  Thank you so much for your prayers!
Prayer requests:
- For the students in Mexico City, that God will work through them mightily to reach their classmates and friends for Christ.
- For Fernando and Nancy, that God will continue to use them in Xalapa, and that God will provide a team of faithful supporters so that they can enter full-time ministry as soon as possible.
- For Liz’s health, that God gives her strength and energy through this time.
- For our fall retreat that is coming up the second week of November for students in Puebla and Xalapa, that in this time the new students will grow in their relationship with Christ and that God will speak to them.
